Two unrelated plane crashes resulted in two deaths in a two-day span from aircraft that launched from Brackett Field Airport in La Verne.
The plane that crashed on Sunday was carrying two passengers and resulted in the death of one man, who has been identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office as Frank Eldridge.
Sarah Ardalani, coroner’s office spokesperson, said the man was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m.
The Monday morning crash involved only one passenger, who was pronounced dead at 11:54 p.m. and has not yet been identified, the coroner’s office spokesperson said.
Terry Williams, spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board, said that investigators were on scene and in the process of investigating.
Williams said they are currently in the fact-gathering phase of the investigation, which includes going through pilot records, interviewing witnesses and taking other steps to determine the cause of the crashes.
A preliminary report will be released in about a week and it will take a year and a half to complete a probable cause determination, Williams said.
Ardalani said that this year there has only been one other plane crashing incident that she is aware of.
