On Saturday, the University of La Verne men’s soccer team was held scoreless at North Field against Cal Lutheran.
The men were defeated 7-0 on the opening day of SCIAC and remain winless at 0-4.
The Leopards were only down 1-0 at half, but within an eight-minute stretch, the Kingsmen struck with four quick goals in the second half that would all but put the game away.
Goalkeeper Louis Mendoza made outstanding saves, accumulating ten stops on the game, including numerous breakaway saves that would have been sure goals for the Kingsmen.
The team will continue action at 11 a.m. tomorrow, hosting the Tigers of Occidental College. The game against the Tigers will serve as the conference home opener for La Verne.
