Oktoberfest, the annual celebration of German heritage, is happening this weekend in at the Alpine Village Park in Torrance at 833 W. There are a few major movies opening this weekend. Among them are the slapstick comedy “Zoolander,” starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, the suspense thriller “Don’t Say a Word,” starring Michael Douglas, and the sentimental drama “Hearts in Atlantis” with Anthony Hopkins.
International Film Series
ULV presents the International/Intercultural Film Series “How Does Our Garden Grow? Films About Diversity.” The featured film for Friday, Oct. 5 is “Children of Heaven,” a film from Iran. Admission is free and open to the public in La Fetra auditorium from 7 to 10 p.m. A discussion will follow the film.
