No one was seriously injured but two vehicles sustained damage in a two-car accident just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the corner of Arrow Highway and D Street in La Verne.
An older woman driving a black Toyota Camry attempting to make an unprotected left-hand turn northbound onto D Street was struck by a green Jeep Grand Cherokee heading westbound on Arrow Highway.
The Camry was pushed up on the pavement within feet of the cement sign marking Old Town La Verne.
La Verne police arrived on the scene within minutes and paramedics quickly followed.
Officer Christian Surgent was the first to arrive at the accident and confirmed the turning vehicle failed to yield to the northbound vehicle.
Both drivers involved were a bit shaken, but neither needed medical assistance. However the driver of the Jeep complained of a swollen knee. She also had a bruised lip.
The driver credits her airbag in the accident.
“If it wasn’t for that airbag I would have had a lot more damage done; I was headed for that windshield,” said Janet, the driver of the Jeep, who declined to give her full name.
The Jeep sustained damages to the front bumper, the Camry to the passenger side and windshield. Both cars were deemed undriveable and needed to be towed from the crash site.
