After an exclusive search for a new director of alumni affairs, the committee has narrowed down the candidates to three finalists.
The search began with 15 candidates in September when former director of alumni affairs, Donna Redman-Nasmyth, resigned.
After the first search ended in December and no one was hired, a second search uncovered the three finalists. Dr. Jean Bjerke, vice president of University Relations, is head of the committee, which consists of six members.
“I believe the director of alumni affairs is a tremendously important job. We have done a rigorous and outstanding search to fill the position left by Donna Redman-Nasmyth,” said Dr. Bjerke.
Each of the three candidates will go through a final interview process. There will be five hours of private interviews that will be held Feb. 17-19. All candidates were required to have graduated with a bachelor’s degree and have experience in alumni relations.
The candidates will be judged on the ability to relate and work well with others, fundraising, developing a relationship with the staff of alumni relations, experience with planning and organizing events and the responsibility of contacting alumni.
“We have a number of very well qualified candidates that have been interviewed and we hope to have a final decision by the end of February,” said Dr. Bjerke.
The director of alumni affairs will be responsible for programs, fundraising, all alumni events, including the annual alumni weekend and alumni Homecoming events. The new director will begin his/her job by the end of March. If no director is chosen a new search process will begin immediately.
