The Associated Students Federation (ASF) Forum will be holding its annual Winter Extravaganza formal on Dec. 2 from 6:30 p.m to 1 a.m. at the Sheraton Suites Fairplex in Pomona.
In the past, the formal has been held on campus. Last year, it was held at the Sheraton and it will be held there again this year. Another thing is that ASF also has a close relationship with the Sheraton and it is because of that close relationship that ASF has managed to lower the ticket prices for students, faculty and staff. Tickets for the Winter Extravaganza last year were $15 for students, $20 for faculty and staff. This year, tickets are $10 for students and faculty.
Along with the new ticket price, there are also three methods of buying tickets this year. The first way to purchase tickets is through the mail by check or money order. Checks need to be made out to University of La Verne-ASF.
Students can also purchase them for $10 from any ASF member until tickets last or until Nov. 22. Finally, students may purchase them at the ASF table located at the Seal between Nov. 13-17 for $15. “It’s an easier attempt to sell the tickets, people in ASF, we all have conflicting times so we can’t really sit at the table for the whole day and sell tickets that way plus students are always in class and the only time that we get them are during passing and people don’t really don’t have time to do that so we figured it would be the less time consuming and most beneficial that way students when they get home, they can fill it out the form, send in check or money order to the ASF box and we can just send them their tickets two weeks in advance,” Frank Tolentino, Winter Extravaganza chairman, said.
As for the event itself, the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. and it will last for an hour and a half. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. At about 8:00 p.m, Tolentino will welcome everyone. Then ASF president Mario Guerrero and President Steve Morgan will also speak that evening. The dance will take place from 9:00 p.m. from 1 a.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door and their names will be on the guest list.
The dinner will feature the following for their menu: prime rib, turkey, six different salads, a choice of either potatoes or rice, rolls, different kinds cakes, fresh fruit and more. An open bar will also be set up. Students that are underage that are caught drinking will be escorted out automatically. A photographer will also be at the Winter Extravaganza.
