An 11-judge panel for the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday to overturn the Sept. 15 decision to postpone the recall election.
On the Oct. 7 ballot, voters will have an option to vote on whether they want to remove Gov. Gray Davis from office and replace him with one of 135 candidates.
A “no” on the recall still allows voters to choose a backup candidate in the event that Davis is removed from office.
Additionally, two state measures are also on the ballot: Propositions 53 and 54.
Proposition 53 would dedicate 3 percent of the General Fund revenue to state and local infrastructure projects, including road, transportation, water, park and open-space projects. The measure would increase the amount of General Fund revenue committed to “pay-as-you-go” infrastructure projects for state and local governments.
Proposition 54 prohibits state and local governments from using race, ethnicity or national origin data in classifying people for education, contracting or employment operations and other specified operations of government.
Don’t forget to vote Oct. 7.
