Musicantica

Musicantica, a southern Italian music and culture group, will perform in Founders Auditorium Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and information about this and other music productions can be found at www.ulv.edu/music.

Movies

“Pay it Forward,” starring Haley Joel Osment, of “The Sixth Sense” and Kevin Spacey opens today. A Social Studies teacher (Spacey) assigns his students the job of trying to change the world in a positive way. Trevor, played by Osment, comes up with the idea of having three people doing good deeds for another and having that person do the same, hence the name, “Pay it Forward.”

Theater

The long awaited Disney musical, “The Lion King” opened last night at the Pantages Theatre. The musical includes the Tony Award winning songs, original puppets, and African heritage from the original “Lion King” story, only with more excitement and a liveliness unattainable through a TV screen.

Concerts

The Spork Festival, at Grace Church in Glendora, with Dogwood, L.A. Symphony, and Off the Record headlining six other bands has tickets on sale now. The concert is on Sat. Dec. 2, and doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and available at the Grace Church office, at local Lighthouse Christian Bookstores, or online at www.promiselandproductions.com. Special appearances will be made by Active Ride Shop, Reject 37 Records, and Servant Clothing Company.
