L.A. County Fair
The Los Angeles County Fair will kick off its 81st anniversary with 11 nights of entertainment starting tonight. The “End of Summer Concert Series,” will include 10 artists from different genres and eras of music.
The series, which has been part of the fair for years, was designed to add an element of entertainment to the fair, said spokeswoman Wendy Talarico.
“We work with a company to help select and make a venue,” she said. “What we look to do is to make an eclectic mix of different groups and artists to appeal to a large diverse audience.”
The performers scheduled for this year include: the B-52’s; WAR; Earth, Wind and Fire; Styx; Brad Paisley; KC and The Sunshine Band; Willie Nelson; Tower of Power; REO Speedwagon and The Mariachi USA Fiesta. Concertgoers will also be able to enjoy death-defying stunts by the Monster Truck and MotoX Freestyle Mania during the fourth night of events.
The events will take place every night on the Los Angeles Newspaper Group Grandstand Stage at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the Fairplex box office. Reserved seating prices range from $13.50 to $19.50. The concert series is free for those who purchase a general admission ticket to the fair. Those wanting stageside seating will have to shell out $50 per ticket.
So far, this year’s concert series has increased in ticket sales by 100 percent from the previous year and for most performances only standing room is available.
