The Friday Nights at the Getty series returns for another season of intriguing performances. Maria Marquez, a Caracas-born chanteuse, whose jazz and world music has shaped the elegance of Venezuelan love songs and boleros, will perform tonight. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at 1200 Getty Center Dr. in Los Angeles. Admission is free, but reservations are required. For reservations, call (310) 440- 7300.
Faculty Recital
In another installment in the the Fall Concert Series, sponsored by the ULV Department of Music, Hae Kyung Rhee and Scott Farthing will perform at 8 p.m. tonight in Founders Auditorium. General admission is $5 and student admission is free.

Opening today is “Sweet Home Alabama,” starring Reese Witherspoon as Melanie Carmichael, who is engaged to New York’s most eligible bachelor. But Jake (Josh Lucas) the husband she married in high school, refuses to divorce her.
Also opening this weekend is “The Tuxedo,” starring Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Sugar Ray
Pop band Sugar Ray will perform at 8 p.m. tonight at the Los Angeles County Fair. Ticket prices range from $12.50 to $50. Unreserved general admission seating is free. All concerts require fair admission. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster locations, in person at the Fairplex credentials office, and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
