Combining schools
On April 25, the Board of Trustees approved the merger of the School of Public Affairs and the School of Business and Global Studies. The merger will be effective July 1 under the name of the College of Business and Public Management. Also effective July 1, the Master’s in Leadership and Management program will move from the School of Education and Organizational Leadership to the College of Business and Public Management.
Pre-Law Society
The Pre-Law Society is sponsoring an informational meeting for those students considering applying to law school in the fall or in the future. The meeting starts at 3 p.m., Thursday in Founders Hall, room 114.
Commencement speakers
The speaker for the Baccalaureate commencement will be David Radcliff, director of Brethren Witness, a peace and justice program of the Church of the Brethren. Peace Corps Director Gaddi Vasquez will speak at the undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 24. Mary Catherine Swanson, founder and director of Advancement Via Individual Determination, will speak at the Graduate ceremony on May 25. Speaking at the College of Law hooding and commencement ceremony will be U.S. Representative David Dreier, who represents the cities of Glendora, Pomona, Claremont and La Verne.
LV commissions
The city of La Verne is currently accepting applications for volunteers to serve on city commissions or committees. The City Council invites residents of La Verne who are 18 years or older to apply. The last day to submit an application is 6 p.m., May 22.
