Fullerton Art

The Fullerton College Art Department presents a 30 year retrospective of work by artist Clinton MacKenzie. The exhibit includes early fiber work, as well as cast paper from the ’70s and ’80s. The exhibit runs through Nov. 30, and is at the Fullerton College Downtown Art Gallery. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays. The exhibit is free.

ULV Music

The University of La Verne Music Department presents “Music of the Romantics” featuring ULV student performers. The concert starts at 8 p.m. tonight in Founders Auditorium. General admission is $5 and students are free.

Philharmonic

The Los Angeles Philharmonic presents the “Special Green Umbrella: the Adams/ Bermel Junction” at 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 at UCLA Royce Hall. The concert will feature “Naive and Sentimental Music” by conductor John Adams. For more information, call (310) 825- 2101.

Movies

Opening at a theater near you this weekend is “Abandon” starring Katie Holmes and Benjamin Bratt. Bratt plays a detective investigating the disappearance of Holmes’ ex- boyfriend. Also opening this weekend is “The Ring” starring Naomi Watts as a journalist who discovers a disturbing video tape where anyone who sees it dies within seven days. This is a remake of one of Japan’s highest grossing films ever.

Founders Auditorium gets revamped

This January the University of La Verne will unveil the renovated Founders Auditorium. Completion of the long-anticipated revamp of this historic performance hall will be accompanied by a renaming of the hall after University President Steve Morgan and his wife, Ann.
