Festival praises pastries on Pi Day

Families and community members came together to celebrate the third annual Clare­mont Pie Festival March 14 throughout the Claremont Village.

The festival offered pie eating contests, baking contests, recipe card scavenger hunts and pie making demonstrations throughout the day.

“This festival is all about the simpler things in life,” Pie Festival coordinator and owner of I Like Pie in Claremont Annika Corbin said. “It’s really all about coming out and doing something interactive and doing something that involves the physical element and doing it as a community.”

While other Claremont events such as the Wine Walk are more adult-oriented, the Pie Festival allowed for a kid friendly day in the Village.

“I think it’s more of a family friendly kind of event,” planning committee chair Sonja Stump said. “There are several different booths that are kind of more kid oriented. It’s just a way to get people more familiar with Claremont and it’s just a way to have a fun family day in the village.”
